The search for custom solutions, as I’ve developed this custom theme, has been ongoing and exhaustive. For the most part, searching for what I’m looking for has produced an abundance of results and my task has simply been weeding through to find the optimal solution. Not so when today, as I rounded out comment styling, I searched for answers about where the little avatar images were coming from. Though I’m not particularly sure how the Gravatar has escaped me to date, I can now boast proud ownership of three unique avatars for the three legit email addresses that I use with regularity. A second issue that seemed, initially, too complicated, occurred when I tried to figure out how to set a default avatar to something other than the default options available in WordPress (found in Settings>Discussion). I implemented several unique plugins with no success and it began to appear as though I were going to need to edit my trunk files, which I have, so far and thankfully, avoided. I finally stumbled on a bit of code in WordPress.org support that did the trick.

My Google Reader delivered to me this morning a wondrous gift. I subscribe to Brian Cray’s blog about social experience design and – what joy! what rapture! – he’s written on a subject near and dear to my heart; wireframing. In advising, “How to Start Wireframing,” my dear Mr. Cray mentions some tools that were, until now, unknown to this soul humbly devoted to the ’sketch it on a napkin’ or, oftentimes even more convoluted method, ’sketch it out in Illustrator.’ Poor AI, I never meant to abuse you so. I’m comfortable with you and it just seemed like a good fit at the time.

I completed this project as a contractor for Conversion Associates. A flash-free, content-, JQuery- and image- rich offering for the clients of an incredible team of interior visionaries. Includes a secure tool that clients of Hill & Partners can use to easily upload artwork and files.

Large background images drove the design and development of this unique website. This project was done for McDermott Ventures, the PR firm hired by Equity Office Properties to assist in the “greening” of their Boston presence. A question form in the header of each page allows users to pose questions to the EOP team for a Q&A feature about their efforts.

Design + development project for a construction startup in Northern Massachusetts. The site implements a variety of Jquery functions to keep animations snappy and the site browser-friendly. I utilized the Conversion Associates content management system for this client. I also did the corporate identity for this project.
